Emergency Preparedness

Old Field's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is dedicated to ensuring Village residents and officials are prepared to protect lives and property in the event of large-scale emergencies which might temporarily overwhelm the normal emergency services agencies, such as fire/EMS, civil defense, police and local communications.

Scenarios we are preparing for range from hurricanes to blizzards, blackouts, heat waves, homeland security incidents and public health threats. CERT's primary approach, sometimes referred to as "Rescue in Place," aims to enable residents, or groups of residents, to become self-sufficient until outside resources become available to us. CERT planning is underway via a handful of residents who are drafting logistical plans that will offer advisory information and coordinate the many residents who have volunteered to help.

Residents' responses to the CERT survey have been very valuable toward assessing vulnerabilities as well as assets we can rely on. All such information will be posted at this location. If you have not yet responded to the CERT survey please download it from the website (coming soon) and return it to the Village Clerk.
